Hey there everyone!

For the past week I have been semi-immobile due to a recurring back problem. It actually acted up before that, but my bro-in-law and his wife were in town, so I used up the last of my good painkillers to keep myself up and running so that we could show them a good time.

Anyhow, when I was sitting in our comfy chair in between real work (which I haven’t been doing as quickly as I should be!), I started sketching out ideas for a short story that has been bouncing around my skull for over a decade. This quickly lead to me putting together the first two pages and, as a treat from me to you, I am publishing them down below.

For those who don’t know, typically comics are usually drawn much larger than they are printed. This is how we sneak in such fine detail- it is A LOT easier when your actual drawing is two or three times the size of the printed page (sometimes even more).

However, for this comic, I am drawing it at about a 1:1 scale, meaning the size of the printed page is about the size of how I drew it (regular letter size). I don’t know why I decided to do this… maybe to challenge myself? Maybe because it is quite a bit easier to draw on a normal sheet of paper while sitting in a comfy chair as opposed to my drawing table (I can’t sit at that right now because of my back)? Either way, what you see is what you get. I am also trying to do this (fairly) old school, in that each page is drawn in its entirety, as opposed to drawing different panels on different sheets of paper and Photoshopping them all together. Still, I am only one man with limited time, so all of the grey shading, text, and word balloons are done in Photoshop.

Well, I think I have talked your ear off enough. For your review, I submit the first two pages of a new, yet to be titled, short story comic:
