Following on from my previous post, above is the second part of my Millia cs. Max 2018 triptych (a three panel illustation). This panel will be the right side, and this time around Max Jenius, ace human pilot, is the focus of the piece.

As with the first drawing, his image based on the dogfight scene between Max and Millia in the film Macross: Do You Remember Love? Loosely interpreted from the final part of their duel, where Millia, in her signature red Queadluun Rau, seemingly flees into a large spaceship in order to lure Max into an ambush, which he is too quick to follow. Hiding against the ceiling of a narrow corridor, just above the entry, Max flies past and Millia let’s loose with a barrage from her arm-mounted cannons. She assumes victory when out of the smoke Max, having transformed VF-1S Valkyrie from fighter to battroid mode (looks like a giant robot), opens fire.

As with the previous drawing I had some second thoughts. I was originally going to include some details of the corridor as the background, but decided against it. Overall, this one came together much faster, having the previously completed Millia drawing to guide me.

Just like the last, each element was drawn in ink and then scanned into Photoshop for coloring.
